Student Tasks for MONDAY, APRIL 27th through FRIDAY, MAY 1st
LAC class sessions will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday this week (and next week).
To view the LAC lesson from Tuesday, April 28th, please click here. Most of the class time was spent reviewing the essential details for the Short Research Project Report, including a brief review of the 3 assignments that were already due for this current unit. The lesson slides also include some information about In-Text citations and the Works Cited page.
The assignment due this Friday, May 1st for the Short Research Project Unit is the completed Career Note-Taking Form (document posted above) OR Rough Draft. Students who have already started writing their report in paragraph form may turn in their Rough Draft for this assignment instead of the Career Note-Taking Form. (Only one of those items should be turned in for this week's assignment, not both.)
Here is a graphic organizer that students can use to help organize their ideas in written paragraph form. The Career Note-Taking Form serves the same purpose as well.

Once you are finished reading through the lesson, click on Thesis Statement to complete this assignment (Due Friday, April 24th).
Student Tasks for MONDAY, APRIL 13th through FRIDAY, APRIL 17th
The assignment for this independent work week was to submit at least 3 sources that you are using in your research (Due Friday, April 17th). One of those sources must be a book or other print resource. You can view the LAC Lesson Power Point from this week here. This lesson includes some information on identifying plagiarism; finding reliable resources; paraphrasing and citing sources; and beginning your research by taking notes. (Additional information on these topics can be found below.)
The task of writing your final draft will go a lot more smoothly if you work on the different assignments step-by-step, in the order that they are due during the Short Research Project Unit.
The Career Note-Taking Form along with the Graphic Organizer for a 5-Paragraph Essay will assist in the organization of your writing.
If you have not already done so, please submit your career selection (click on the picture above)! This was your first (and simplest) assignment for the 4th Quarter worth 10 points (Due April 10th).
See the Requirements document and Rubric for more specific details and expectations for your research report. Any sources that you actually use in your research report must be included on the Works Cited page that is to be turned in with your final draft (Due May 8th).
